ABOUT ME

JoAnn Dotson is a native of Sanderville, Georgia and is married to Benjamin Dotson. She is a retired educator from Ridge Road Primary School with 32 years of service. She is a graduate of Morris Brown College with a B.S in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s in Psychology and Counseling from Troy State University as well as Doctoral studies at Northcentral University.

During her teaching career, she was recognized as Ridge Road Primary Teacher of the Year,  Washington County Branch of the NAACP Teacher of the Year, A recipient of 13 WMAZ-TV -My Teacher is Tops Winner, Chamber of Commerce Teacher of the Year Award, Whose Who Among Americans Teachers,and several other recognitions. 

Her hobbies include writing, traveling, singing, and gardening. Her travels have taken her abroad to Venice Italy, Greece, Rome, Naples,Croatia, Montenegro, and Canada, just to name a few.

Recently, her first book was published  A Pencil for a Pet and is sold on Amazon. This book is about a boy named Josh who lives in an apartment building that does not allow pets. Josh parents told him to use  his imagination to solve his problem so he invited a pencil pet.

The author has recently been invited to read to children at the Summer Reading Program at East Wilkinson County Library in Irwinton Georgia.
